Alaska, U.S.A.

aurora_alaska_cover

The largest State by area in the U.S. sits on the northwest corner of the country. Alaska is known for its extreme temperatures during summer and winter. The land of the midnight sun in Summer and the land devoid of daylight during winter, is beautiful in all seasons. Each season brings out a unique facet each time.

Alaska even though huge by size is sparsely populated and nature dominates in most parts. It gives you a perspective of how small, and insignificant we are in front of mother nature.

Sharath and I have visited Alaska both in Summer and Winter. Each time it has been an fascinating experience.

Winter in Alaska

Winter is such a contrast to Summer. The temperatures drop drastically to the other extreme in winter. The landscape dramatically changes from green mountains to white magnificence. As you go up north, you can experience the arctic tundra, get close to the North Pole, pass the Arctic circle and check out the emerald dancing northern lights. There are many winter activities that you can do in Alaska. Check out our posts below to find out more!

Summer in Alaska (Posts coming soon....)

Summer is when most people visit Alaska and it tends to get crowded. The weather is warm and breezy. It can even get quite hot in the middle of summer like July. When we were there in July, it got so hot that it led to forest fires and temperatures soared between 90-100F (32- 37 C) !

Towering majestic mountains, cool blue glaciers, alpine tundra, rich marine and land wildlife, all waiting to be explored easily in perfect weather. There is so much to do in Summer in all parts of Alaska that visiting just one city would not be enough. Our Itinerary for Summer in Alaska was so jam packed that we hardly spent an evening without doing any activity in the 5 days that we were there.
